National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day

Together We Can Stop HIV!

Get Educated, Get Tested, Get Treated, Get Involved

Why should we get tested?

...because 1 in 2 people with HIV have had the virus at least 3 years before diagnosis.

...because about 40% of new HIV infections come from people who don’t know they have HIV.

Let's encourage friends and family to get tested at least once and people at high risk should be tested at least once a year.

How can we prevent HIV together?

Discuss prevention tools with family and friends including condoms,  pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and services for people who inject drugs. Need tools to help start the conversation? Visit

What do we need to know about

People with HIV that receive quality clinical care can  achieve and maintain an undetectable viral load which means they have effectively no risk of sexually transmitting the virus to an HIV-negative partner. Let's create a safe space for disclosure in our communities and encourage retention in HIV care and viral suppression with our HIV positive family and friends .
